1. In Micro-Scope, find the third System Information screen.
2. How many parallel ports are there?
3. How many serial ports?
4. What are their I/O addresses?
Exit and go to the Diagnostic menu.
Select the Serial Port Test.
Under Select Port, choose Port 0.
5. Under Set Parameters / Set Loopback, set the loopback to Internal. Then go to Run Loopback Test, and observe the entire ASCII character set as it flashes through the data window.
6. Did the test pass? What is the status of these outgoing lines?
Ready To Send ____________ Transmit Data __________
Data Terminal Ready ___________________
Note: To actually test the incoming lines, the Set Loopback must be
set to External and the proper loopback plug must be attached to the port.
