Using Micro-Scope to Optimize Your Computer

In this section, you’ll run the Micro-Scope software to optimize your computer.

You’ll be concerned only with the some of the basic tests; ones that examine important parts of your hardware setup and tell you if there are any problems.

You should not have to do anything other than simply run the tests that Micro-Scope performs. If there are any basic hardware setup problems at this point, it’s not likely that your computer will start up properly.

The three most basic problem areas are:

• Incorrect jumper settings
  
  
• Power connection problems
  
  
• Ribbon (device) connector problems

If you have incorrect jumper settings, your computer may still start up, and you could possibly even run some software, but the system will not run well. The Micro-Scope diagnostics can help you locate any problems.
