Computer repair facilities report that as
many as 40% of the new or repaired systems are returned with
similar or additional problems.
This is primarily due to the fact that many times a system
has more than one problem, or the problem was not correctly
identified. Micro 2000s Burn-In, when combined with
initial hardware verification by Micro-Scope (Micro 2000s
bench diagnostic), reduces the number of returned systems
dramatically.
Configurable Automation with Easy SetupBurn-In can
be configured with a variety of options. The technician can
make numerous setting choices including which diagnostics
to run, where to send the log file, and the duration of the
procedure. The settings can easily be changed to allow for
maximum customization. If tests are selected for hardware
that is not present in the system, then those tests will not
be performed. This allows the default suite of tests to be
run on many different hardware configurations without the
need for script files or re-configuring the testing.
Features
OPERATING SYSTEM INDEPENDENTMicro 2000, Inc.'s
proprietary bootable operating system is written in assembly
language and specifically designed for hardware diagnostics.
This allows for direct access to the hardware and entirely
bypasses the DOS, Windows and UNIX translations and the inaccuracies
common to all O/S-dependent diagnostics.
PROVEN WAY TO INCREASE QUALITY CONTROLComputer

DETAILED SYSTEM LOGS Upon completion of the
testing phase of the program, a complete system log will be
written to a predetermined destination. This could be a floppy
drive, hard drive (if Burn-In is run from DOS) or a network
drive (if the Network drivers are loaded). The log file is
written after each pass so that in the event of a power failure,
a record of the testing will still be available. In addition
to listing test results, the log also contained a detailed
list of the system hardware including information on the system
board, CPU, memory, video, and all drives.
TEST WITHOUT KEYBOARD OR MOUSE With Burn-In
the UUT (Unit Under Test) can be tested without monitor or
keyboard. This is especially helpful when large quantities
of machines are being tested simultaneously.
OPTIONAL DIAGNOSTIC MONITORING LOOPBACK The
optional DML plug is attached to the systems parallel
port and allows the test operator to monitor the progress
of the testing via LEDs on the DML plug.
Contains all accurate diagnostics from Micro-Scope:
- USB IDENTIFICATION & TESTINGIdentifies
the USB host controller (both Universal and Open Host) and
tests the host controller's functionality. NEW! Now identifies
USB 2.0 also.
- LAN CARD TESTINGTests LAN cards with chipsets
from Intel, 3Com, RealTek, National, and SMC.
- BOARD TESTS100% accurate testing of the CPU,
NPU, 16 IRQ channels, 8 DMA channels, Real Time Clock, Keyboard
controller, Clock Timer Chip, PS/2 Mouse controller, and
speaker.
- VIDEO TESTINGAccurately tests video adapter
to the extent of the capabilities of the card regardless
of monitor limitations, and all video memory without size
limitations. Video RAMDAC (if supported by the video card),
screen focus testing and extended VESA testing on newer
video cards.
- UNLIMITED MEMORY TESTINGExtensive testing
of RAM including SDRAM, Rambus and DDR, with no upper limit
on size. Tests include Pseudo-Random, Xor'ed Address, Bit
Test, Proximity and Pattern Test to find even obscure problems
such as physically mis-linked cells and refresh issues.
Special routines ensure the problem lies in RAM and not
in the cache, with separate tests for internal and external
cache. Improved testing of proprietary IBM, Dell and Compaq
RAM.
- BASE MEMORY TESTPrior to loading the entire
diagnostic, test for errors in the lower 64K which would
prevent other diagnostics and operating systems from loading.
- HARD DISK TESTINGPerforms Read, Write, and
Butterfly Seek tests on any fixed disk, including drives
over 65,535 cylinders.
- FLOPPY DISK TESTINGAccurately tests any portion
of a floppy drive, including read, write, format, safe write,
and butterfly seek tests. Tests all media formats up to
2.88mb and includes a user-defined option for higher media
formats.
- SERIAL & PARALLEL PORT TESTINGThe most
extensive and accurate testing available for all ports,
far beyond DOS and Windows-based diagnostics. Test connectors
(with loopbacks), FIFO and UART capabilities, and detect
true interrupt and port assignments regardless of how the
port is believed to be configured.
- MULTIMEDIA TESTINGRead and Seek tests of
CD-ROM, CD-ROMs in DVD drives, and CD-R drives. SoundBlaster
compatibles and Adlib tests.
- SCSI TESTINGSCSI Testing includes the Read,
Write, and Seek features SCSI drives.
- IDE DRIVE TESTINGTests Read and Seek functions
of removable drives including LS-120, Iomega ZIP, and IDE
CD-ROM drives. IDE CD-ROM drives can even be tested without
drivers.
