Starting
out with Micro-Scope Version 14
With over 150 test routines in Microscope you may not be sure
where you should begin - and so we recommend a couple of simple
tests to diagnose the most common problems such as bad Hard
Drives, Motherboards and Memory.
The tests are done in 'Batch
Mode' and this is the recommended setting for
'Batch' tests
From the 'Batch Menu' select <Select
Test>
- System Board Test
- Memory Test, select Pattern Test and Full Bit Test for
Cache and Extended Memory
- Floppy Test, select Drive 1 and choose <3.5 1.44 MB>
then select Butterfly Seek and Read Test
- Fixed Disk Test, select Drive 0 and select Butterfly
Seek, Read and Controller Test
- IDE Device Test, select Drive 1 and 2, select Butterfly
Seek and Read Test and set it to entire drive
- Video Test, select Page Video Memory Test
- Other Device Test, select Network Card and USB Controller
test
After you have
selected the test click the 'Escape'
key and from the 'Batch
Menu' select <Run Selected>
and two options will be presented. The first one will run
the test in a cycle until you stopped by hitting 'Escape'
key. The second, you will be asked to set the number of passes
for each cycle of test.
When the tests are finish, go to 'Report Features'
and select <Log Report> select <Log
to Disk>
Enter the file path in the form of B:test1.txt
Even if you only have one floppy drive, MicroScope emulates
a virtual floppy drive during its execution and assigns the
letter 'A'. This is why for the physically
installed floppy drive the letter assigned is always 'B'.
Is a good practice to run the Base Memory Test first and then
test the device you suspect is causing you problems and finally
run a general test as the one described above.

Recent Review:
"In
the service business, time is money. The Micro2000 Universal
Diagnostic Toolkit is worth its weight in gold for any service
company. The cost of the product is quickly recovered because
of faster turn around time when fixing problem systems. The
product also helps control business costs simply because technicians
are more accurately diagnosing what parts they require for
system repairs." Compunotes
