Specifications
Complete automated PC diagnostics designed to
improve quality control and reduce the amount of returned, defective
computers.
Operating System Independent - Micro 2000,
Inc.'s proprietary bootable operating system is written in 'C' and
assembly language and is based on FreeDOS and customized specifically
for our diagnostics. This allows for direct access to the hardware
and entirely bypasses the DOS, Windows and UNIX translations and
the inaccuracies common to all O/S-dependent diagnostics.
Proven Way to Increase Quality Control -
Computer repair facilities report that as much as 40% of the new
or repaired systems are returned with similar or additional problems.
This is primarily due to the fact that many times, a system has
more than one problem or the problem was not correctly identified.
Micro 2000's Burn-In reduces the number of returned systems dramatically.
Configurable Automation with Easy Setup
- The diskette contains a separate utility program for selecting
the tests and testing order. This utility program, called Setup
Burn-in (SetupBI) is used for test selection and program configuration
and control. It combines the 'Easy Setup' and 'File Control' into
one easy to use program. The test duration, file locations and program
configuration are all configured with SetupBI. File locations can
utilize mapped network drive to load pre-configured tests and as
a storage area for test report logs. Once set, the program defaults
to that setting every time it is run. The settings can easily be
changed to allow for maximum customization. If tests are selected
for hardware that is not present in the system, then those tests
will not be performed. This allows the default suite of tests to
be run on many different hardware configurations without the need
for script files or re-configuration for testing.
Detailed System Logs - Upon completion of
the testing phase of the program, a complete system log will be
written to the drive and directory that is configured in the SetupBI
utility. The log file is written after each test so that in the
event of a power failure, a record of the testing will still be
available. In addition to listing the test results, the log also
contains a detailed list of the system hardware including information
on the system board, CPU, memory, video and all drives.
Monitor and Keyboard not needed - Burn-in
can run without the need for a keyboard and/or monitor attached
to the UUT (Unit Under Test). With the Burn-in optional Diagnostic
Monitoring Loopback (DML) connected to the UUT's Parallel Port,
the test operator can monitor the progress of the testing via LEDs
on the DML. This allows for less required hardware connected to
the UUT to successfully run Burn-in.
Contains all accurate diagnostics From Micro-Scope:
USB Identification & Testing - Identifies
the USB host controller (both Universal and Open Host) and tests
the host controller's functionality. NEW! Now identifies USB 2.0
also.
LAN Card Testing - Tests LAN cards with
chipsets from Intel, 3Com, RealTek, National, SMC, D-Link, VIA and
Netgear.
System Board Tests - 100% accurate testing
of the CPU, NPU, 16 IRQ channels, 8 DMA channels, Real Time Clock,
Keyboard controller, Clock Timer Chip, PS/2 Mouse controller and
speaker.
Video Testing - Accurately tests video adapter
to the extent of the capabilities of the card regardless of monitor
limitation, and all video memory without size limitations. Video
RAMDAC (if supported by the video card) and extended VESA testing
on newer video cards.
Extended Memory Testing - Extensive testing
of RAM including SDRAM, Rambus, DDR and DDR2. Tests include Pseudo-Random,
Xor'ed Address, Bit Test, Proximity and Pattern Test to find even
obscure problems such as physically mis-linked cells and refresh
issues. Special routines ensure the problem lies in RAM and not
in the cache, with separate test for internal and external cache.
NEW! Improved testing of proprietary IBM, Dell and Compaq RAM.
Base Memory Test - Prior to loading the
entire diagnostic, test for errors in the lower 640K, which would
prevent other diagnostics and operating systems from loading.
Hard Disk Testing - Performs Read, Write,
Safe Write, Butterfly Seek and Low Level Format tests on any fixed
disk, including drives over 65,535 cylinders.
Floppy Disk Testing - Accurately tests any
portion of a floppy drive, including Read, Write, Safe Write and
Butterfly Seek tests. Tests all media formats up to 2.88mb.
Serial and Parallel Port Testing - The most
extensive and accurate testing available for all ports, far beyond
DOS and Windows-based diagnostics. Test connectors (with loopbacks),
FIFO and UART capabilities and detect true interrupt and port assignments
regardless of how the port is believed to be configured.
Multimedia Testing - SoundBlaster, Ad-lib
and AC'97 sound card tests.
SCSI Testing - Performs Read, Write and
Seek tests on any SCSI drive, when ASPI drivers are loaded.
IDE Drive Testing - Tests Read, Seek and
Write functions of IDE drives including Parallel and Serial ATA
drives without the need for drivers. CD-ROM drives, DVD-ROM drives,
all removable media drives and hard disk drives.
