GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT A+ CERTIFICATION

Q. What is A+ Certification?

A. A+ Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technicians. The A+® exams contain situational, and identification types of questions. All of the questions are multiple choice. There is either one answer for each question or the question identifies how many answers you should select. The test covers a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but is not bound to any vendor-specific products.

Q. What is CompTIA?

A. The growth in the computing and communications industries is accompanied by new rewards and challenges.

Representing more than 8,000 computing and communications companies, CompTIA helps its members stay competitive and profitable by providing vendor-neutral standards in certification, e-commerce, customer service, and workforce development to meet these industry-wide challenges. A global association, CompTIA continues to improve by offering a new menu of services to its members.

CompTIA helps shape the technology community with programs that set standards and guidelines today and into the future. As a participant in these activities your company will work with partners, potential partners, and competitors to influence and advance every facet of the technology community. CompTIA gives you a voice and provides a vital link to major segments of the technology markets.

Q. What is the minimum passing score needed for the A+ exams?

A. The A+ exams use a scaled score format.

The A+ upgraded exams covering the 2003 objectives are graded on a scale of 100 - 900. The minimum score for the A+ Core Hardware exam is 515 and the minimum score for the A+ OS exam is 505.
